Government approves establishment of CAWACH to fight Kovid-19
The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, approved the establishment of the Center for Augmenting WAR with COVID-19 Health Crisis (CAWACH) to fight Kovid-19 on April 3.
The Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE), a expertise commercial incubator at IIT Bombay reinforced by DST, has been recognized as the applying agency for CAWACH.
The motivation behind CAWACH will be to offer the essential money related help to the advancements and new businesses who are occupied with the arrangement of this ailment.
CAWACH will bring together fifty originalities and new businesses that convey creative, minimal effort, sheltered and genuine ventilators, respiratory guides, defensive riggings, imaginative answers for sanitizers, disinfectants, diagnostics, therapeutics, informatics and others for control of COVID-19 Are working in the territory of viable measures.
Asian Development Scenario 2019: Indian GDP growth rate to be 4 percent
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) released its annual economic report ‘Asian Development Outlook 2019’ (Asian Development Outlook) on 3 April.
In this report, the ADB has lowered the estimate of the growth rate of the Indian economy (GDP) from 4 percent to 4 percent in the current financial year (2020-21). The main reason for the decrease in Indian GDP is due to global demand and the efforts being made by the government to deal with the corona virus epidemic.
The ADB has projected the growth rate of the Indian economy (GDP) to be 6.2 percent for the next financial year (2021-22).
In this report, ADB has estimated growth rate in South Asia to be 4.1 percent in FY 2020-2021 and 6 percent in FY 2021-2022.
Asian Development Bank: A Vision
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is a regional development bank which was established on 19 December 1966.
The purpose of the establishment of this bank was to accelerate economic and social development in the Asia-Pacific region.
The bank was founded with 31 members, now the ADB now has 68 members, of which 48 are from Asia and the Pacific and 19 are outsiders.
ADB is headquartered in Manila, Philippines and has representative offices throughout the world. It is headed by Japan. Matsugu Asakawa is the current chairman of the ADB.
The format of the ADB was created on the basis of the World Bank and, like the World Bank, there is a system of weighted vote system in which the distribution of votes is done on the basis of the capital contribution ratio of the members.
Currently, both the United States and Japan have the largest share of shares, accounting for 12.756 percent of the total share.
‘FIFA U-17 Women’s Football World Cup’ to be held in India postponed
FIFA has postponed the ‘FIFA U-17 Women’s Football World Cup 2020’ due to corona virus epidemic. The tournament was to be held in India from 2 to 21 November 2020. New dates for the contest will be proclaimed later.
The decision to postpone the tournament was taken at a meeting of the FIFA-Confederations working group on 3 April. The Working Group also decided to postpone the ‘FIFA Under-20 Football World Cup 2020’ to be held in August and September 2020 in Panama and Costa Rica.
FIFA U-17 Women’s Football World Cup 2020 ‘was to be played in Navi Mumbai, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar in India.
April 4: International Mines Awareness and Assistance Day in Mining Work
Every year on April 4, ‘International Day for mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action’ is celebrated all over the world. The purpose of celebrating this day is to make people aware of mine safety and landmines.
This year i.e. in 2020, the main theme of this day is – Together for Mine Action.
In 2005, the United Nations General Assembly announced the ‘International Day of Awareness and Assistance in Mining Work’ as a day each year. This day was first observed on 4 April 2006.
1 April 2020: 70 years of India-China diplomatic relations complete
On 1 April 2020, 70 years of diplomatic relations between India and China were completed. The two countries decided to postpone all programs scheduled to commemorate the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations due to the global COVID-19 epidemic.
The leaders of India and China took the historic decision to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries on 1 April 1950. The two countries jointly advocated the ‘Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence’. India was the first non-socialist country to establish relations with the People’s Republic of China- PRC.

Duckworth-Lewis method of cricket Tony Lewis dies
Tony Lewis, the founder of the Duckworth-Lewis method of cricket, died at the age of 78. Tony Lewis, along with his mathematician partner Frank Duckworth, presented the Duckworth Lewis method in the year 1997. It was officially approved in 1999 by the International Cricket Council (ICC). This method was named the Duckworth – Lewis – Stern method in 2014.
This method based on mathematics is used in limited overs international cricket matches when the game is interrupted by rain. Lewis was not a cricketer but was awarded the MBE, the British Empire’s Distinguished Honor, in 2010 for his contributions to cricket and mathematics.

Recently, the National Informatics Center operated under the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has developed the “Arogya Setu” application. When a person comes in contact with a COVID-19 infected person six feet, this app alerts that person.
