Hindi the third most spoken language in the world: report

In the 22nd edition of the World Language Database, Ethnologues states that there are 6 Indian languages ​​among the 20 most spoken languages ​​around the world. Hindi is third in this. According to Ethnologues 61.5 crore, people around the world use the Hindi language. According to Ethnology, English is the first place among the most spoken languages ​​worldwide. It is used by 113.2 million people all over the world. In addition, second place is the spoken Mandarin language in China. It is spoken by 111.7 crore people. Spanish is the language with 53.4 million people at number four.

Three-day large bird census in Ladakh found two new species of birds

Two new species of birds have been found in the Union Territory of Ladakh during the recent three-day large bird census. The census was conducted by Wildlife Conservation and Ladakh Bird Club. Red-necked Sarika and Surmila waterbird were found for the first time in the Ladakh region. On the other hand, Common Rose Finch and Gray Heron species have come first in Ladakh this time. 3 groups of birdwatchers and wildlife specialists calculated a total of 87 different species of birds in Ladakh.

Birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj: 19 February

 Shivaji was born on  Feb 19, 1630, in  Shivneri fort. Shivneri Durg is a historical fort located near Junnar village in Pune, Maharashtra state. Shivaji respected all religions equally. Shivaji Maharaj had overcome the Mughal army many times throughout his era. Full credit for laying the foundation of the Maratha Empire goes to Chhatrapati Shivaji. The birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji is also called Shiv Jayanti and Shivaji Jayanti. Shivaji Jayanti is celebrated in the traditional way in Maharashtra. This day is a public holiday in Maharashtra.

Bimal Julka becomes Chief Information Commissioner

Former Information and Broadcasting Secretary Bimal Julka has recently been elected Chief Information Commissioner (CIC). Bimal Julka is presently serving as the Info Commissioner in the Central Information Commission. These have been elected by the High-Powered Committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Bimal Julka is a 1979 batch retired IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre. His appointment was approved in a high-level meeting of the selection committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Supreme Court strict on illegal sand mining in Rajasthan

The Supreme Court on 19 February 2020 directed the Rajasthan government to immediately stop illegal sand mining. The Supreme Court has sought an answer in this regard from the state of Rajasthan within four weeks. A bench headed by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court SA Bobde said that illegal sand mining would cause irreparable damage to the environment. This bench also includes Justice BR Gavai and Justice Surya Kant. The bench also ordered the Central Empowered Committee appointed by the court to investigate the matter.

The Union Cabinet approved the formation of the 22nd Indian Law Commission for a period of three years.

Earlier, the term of the 21st Law Commission ended on 31 August 2018. The Law Commission of India is a non-statutory body established from time to time by the Government of India. Various Law Commissions have been able to contribute significantly to progressive development and codification of the law of the country.
